Directions

The NFLC is located near the College Park campus of the University of Maryland. With its convenient location to Baltimore, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., the NFLC is easily accessible by car or public transportation. The following directions will help guide you to our center:

Directions by Car

From Baltimore and points north

  • Take I-95 South to the Capital Beltway (I-495).
  • Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park."
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South.
  • Turn left on Paint Branch Parkway.
  • At the third traffic light, turn right onto 51st Avenue.
  • The NFLC is in the Patapsco Building on your left. Visitor parking is free.

From Virginia and points west, via VA side of Capital Beltway (I-495)

  • Take I-66 East or I-270 South to Capital Beltway (I-495).
  • Go East on I-495 toward "Baltimore."
  • Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park."
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South.
  • Turn left on Paint Branch Parkway.
  • At the third traffic light, turn right onto 51st Avenue.
  • The NFLC is in the Patapsco Building on your left. Visitor parking is free.

From Virginia and points east, via MD side of Capital Beltway (I-495)

  • Take I-95 North to the Capital Beltway (I-495).
  • Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore.
  • Take Exit 23 "201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt."
  • Proceed South on 201 in the direction of "Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg."
  • At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway.
  • Proceed approximately 1.5 miles to 51st Avenue.
  • Turn left onto 51st Avenue.
  • The NFLC is in the Patapsco Building on your left. Visitor parking is free.

From Washington, D.C. (northwest/southwest) via 16th Street North

  • Take 16th Street North.
  • 16th St. becomes Georgia Ave. North at the Maryland/D.C. line.
  • Go East on the Capital Beltway (I-495) toward "Baltimore."
  • Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to Exit 25, "U.S. 1 South, College Park."
  • Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South.
  • Turn left on Paint Branch Parkway.
  • At the third traffic light, turn right onto 51st Avenue.
  • The NFLC is in the Patapsco Building on your left. Visitor parking is free.

From Washington, D.C. (northeast/southeast), via U.S. 1 North

  • Take Rhode Island Avenue. (U.S. 1 North).
  • Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North) becomes Baltimore Ave. North at the Maryland/D.C. line.
  • Proceed through the city of College Park.
  • Turn right on Paint Branch Parkway.
  • At the third traffic light, turn right onto 51st Avenue.
  • The NFLC is in the Patapsco Building on your left. Visitor parking is free.

Directions by Metrorail

The regional rail transit system offers access to College Park, Washington, D.C. landmarks, and other points of interest.

  • Take the Metrorail Green Line (toward Greenbelt).
  • Get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
  • Exit the station and walk out to Paint Branch Parkway.
  • Turn right and walk one block past the FDA building and cross 51st Avenue.
  • The Patapasco building will be on your right.

Transportation from Regional Airports

The College Park area is served by three major airports - Reagan Washington National (DCA), Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), and Washington Dulles (IAD). We offer the following suggestions to assist you with your travel arrangements from these airport locations:

Reagan Washington National (DCA)

  • Located in Arlington, Va, this airport is approximately 15 miles south of College Park. Travel can be slow through downtown Washington, D.C. during rush hours (6:00 am - 9:00 am EST and 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm EST). The estimated driving time is 40 minutes.
  • Metrorail service is available from the airport to College Park.
    • Take the Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Square).
    • Transfer to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt).
    • Get off at College Park/U of MD station.
    • Exit the station and walk out to Paint Branch Parkway.
    • Turn right and walk one block past the FDA building and cross 51st Avenue.
    • The Patapasco building will be on your right.
  • Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. A one-way trip will cost approximately $25 for the first guest and $8 for each additional guest.
  • Taxi service from the airport to the NFLC will cost approximately $40.

Baltimore-Washington International (BWI)

  • Located just outside Baltimore, this airport is approximately 25 miles north of College Park. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes.
  • MARC Train service is available from the BWI Rail Station to College Park.
    • Cross to the East side of the Metrorail station and walk out to Paint Branch Parkway.
    • Turn right and walk one block past the FDA building and cross 51st Avenue.
    • The Patapasco building will be on your right.
  • Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. A one way trip will cost approximately $27 for the first guest and $11 for each additional guest.
  • Taxi service from the airport to the NFLC will cost approximately $35.

Washington Dulles International (IAD)

  • Located near Herndon, VA, this airport is about 35 miles southwest of College Park. Driving time is approximately one hour.
  • You can take the Metro Bus and Metrorail from the airport.
    • Bus service is available to take you to the West Falls Church Metrorail station:
      • Take the Orange Line (toward New Carrollton).
      • Transfer to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt).
      • Get off at College Park/U of MD station.
      • Exit the station and walk out to Paint Branch Parkway.
      • Turn right and walk one block past the FDA building and cross 51st Avenue.
      • The Patapasco building will be on your right.
  • Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. A one way trip will cost approximately $35 for the first guest and $8 for each additional guest.
  • Taxi service from the airport to the NFLC will cost approximately $55.00.
