This residential program offers talented high school students (age 17 and above) the opportunity to complete a year's worth of college-level language training in nine weeks. Our model features superb instructors, 25 hours per week of classroom study, an integrated approach to language and culture, and a variety of extracurricular activities. Competitive scholarships cover the cost of tuition, with scholarship recipients responsible for the cost of housing and meals.

The Chinese Summer Immersion Academy at China Institute will offer a head start in Chinese to 20 selected New York metro-area high school students with no prior Chinese language background. The Academy will take place from 9:30-3:30, 5 days a week. Equivalent to one semester of high school Chinese, it will emphasize oral commmunication while also introducing learners to Chinese reading and writing, and to the richness of Chinese culture.

Sixty high school students with no previous experience in Chinese will learn Mandarin Chinese through total immersion in a sports camp where Chinese martial arts and ping-pong will be taught in Mandarin Chinese by People's Republic of China national-level champions in the sports.
