Maryland State Department of Human Resources (DHR)

In 2001, the NFLC assisted the Maryland State Department of Human Resources (DHR) in complying with the Maryland Senate Bill S542, "Survey of State Departments, Agencies, and Programs - Persons with Limited English Proficiency."

During this initiative, the NFLC performed the following functions:

• Conducted a preliminary survey of all state departments, agencies, and programs to assess the scope of the impact of Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals upon the provision of services
• Developed policy recommendations for the provision of services to LEP individuals by Maryland departments, agencies, and programs
