Maryland Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ)

In 2002, the Maryland Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) engaged the services of the NFLC to support the following efforts:

  • Assess the requirements of DJJ with respect to language access for Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients
  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive policy for language access for LEP clients
  • Assist DJJ in the implementation of that policy

The NFLC submitted a report in February 2003, entitled The Impact of Limited English Proficient Children and Their Families on the Maryland Department of Juvenile Justice
